UCAT, what do your results mean?

How are UCAT® Exam results calculated?

The UCAT® Exam Statement of Results provides you with 4 scores and an overall percentile rank.

The first 3 scores are your scores for Sections I, II and III of the UCAT® Exam. For context on how these subtests fit together, see our guide to the UCAT® format. These scores are expressed on a scale of 0 to 100. 

The last score is your overall UCAT® Exam score. The overall UCAT score is calculated from your scores from Sections I, II and III:

Overall score = Score 1 + Score 2 + Score 3

The overall percentile rank is an indication of how high your UCAT 2026 score is compared to other candidates. For example, a percentile of 72 means that you performed equal to or better than 72% of all UCAT ® Exam candidates.

What UCAT® Exam score do I need to get into medicine?

That is not an easy question to answer. Entry into an undergraduate medicine course depends on a combination of ATAR, UCAT® Exam score and medicine interview performance. Furthermore, the cutoff for each of these scores varies between universities and also varies between years.
