The correct answer is C.

A is wrong because α-ketone transferase cannot react with an aldehyde. B is incorrect as although an aromatic ring could conceivably be generated in some cases, there are many more where it isn’t (e.g. cyclopentanone). C is correct - if the ketone is not symmetrical there are two ways the double bond can go, but there is no way there can be more than two products. D is incorrect - consider a methylcyclopentanone, where there are two unique products depending on the direction of bond formation. The correct answer is A.

The professor is attacking the speaker Bill by pointing out he is a freshman rather than responding with an argument on the issues. Attacking an individual rather than their argument is Ad Hominem. Referring to his opponent as a freshman is too subtle to  be considered and appeal to ridicule. This type of argument analysis is commonly tested in GAMSAT Section 1.

The correct answer is B.

Answer 3 is a given in this situation, so there is little in the way of exploitation occurring.  Answer 1 might apply, but it is really through confusing Roy on the subject of Heaven that Belize triumphs.  Therefore answer 2 is the key. No exploitation of Roy's illness takes place.

Roy's profanity at the end of the scene demonstrates how much his opinion of heaven differs from Belize's, so answer 1 is correct.

The correct answer is C.

In Belize's vision of heaven, which we can take to represent utopia, there is racial mixing and gender confusion - both of which were historically undesirable - and importantly he proposes a realm in which "race, taste and history [are] finally overcome". 

Therefore answer C is correct. While some of his description of heaven might not sound to pleasant, he's basically saying that somewhere that is chaotic, with new and potentially exciting things, which isn't too pure and clean, and where race and gender issues have been overcome, is his idea of heaven.

Be careful not to interpret option A as "Belize's description of the afterlife is not what it seems". Option A is incorrect as one person's' vision of heaven can't really be used to justify the statement that 'heaven and hell are not what they seem'.

The correct answer is B.

There are a number of ways for PTP to be greater than zero e.g. if both PA > 0 and PIP > 0, then we could result in a PTP = (10) - (5). However in this example, if PIP was also equal to 10, then PTP would equal 0. Thus, the only way that we could guarantee PTP to be a positive value is if PA > 0 and PIP < 0. For example PTP = 10 - (-5) = 10.

Pressure relationships like these are typical of GAMSAT biology reasoning, especially when you have to interpret symbols rather than recall a named law.

Static conditions is defined as PA = 0 (as stated in the passage). If PIP is a negative value, then the PTM is thus positive and hence the alveoli will inflate.

The correct answer is C.

When two half-reactions are in the same solution, the one with the higher E0 runs as the reduction reaction and forces the lower E0 to run as an oxidation reaction – Cr3+ will remain untouched. Note that although Pd2+ could also be reduced depending on the relative concentrations of Cr3+, Pd2+ and Pt2+, Pt2+ being reduced is a certainty, as it has the highest SRP. The answer involving Pb is the wrong way around (i.e. Pb is already reduced so should be oxidised)

As the car accelerates uniformly, we are able to use the SUVAT equations to determine the acceleration of the car and trailer. Kinematics like this is a regular feature of GAMSAT physics.
We know that u = 0  m/s,   s = 400 m,   t = 10 s and need to find a.

Therefore, selecting the appropriate equation and substituting the values in yields:

s = ut +1/2at^2
400 = 0*10 + ½*a*10^2
400 = 50a
a = 8 m/s^2

It is worth memorising SUVAT, because you will not be given a formula booklet in the exam — keep a GAMSAT physics formula sheet for revision only.
