Bond University medicine is the Bond Medical Program: a Bachelor of Medical Studies (BMedSt) and a Doctor of Medicine (MD), taught in sequence from Bond's Gold Coast campus at Robina. This page explains the two degrees, Bond's published fees, the entry rules, how an application moves from QTAC to an offer (including the shape of the dates), the fit-to-practise checks that start after enrolment, and how to judge whether the program suits you. Fee comparisons across Australian medical schools are on the directory.

Two degrees on an accelerated calendar

Bond University medicine is two degrees that have to be completed together if you want to qualify as a medical practitioner. The Bachelor of Medical Studies is eight semesters at Australian Qualifications Framework level 7 (program code CC-60026, CRICOS 0101292). The Doctor of Medicine is the next six semesters, an extended masters at AQF level 9 (program code CC-63048, CRICOS 111520H). Bond runs three semesters a year, so the 14 semesters take 4 years and 8 months. Intakes start in May and September. Source: Bond University — Medical Program .

The early semesters are small-group classes on Bond's Varsity campus at Robina: cases, clinical skills, laboratories, simulation, community placements, and a First Nations cultural immersion. In the third year of the bachelor, teaching moves to the Bond University Clinical Education and Research Centre at Robina Hospital. The MD is hospital and community work. Bond lists child health, medicine, mental health, surgery, women's health, community practice, emergency medicine, general practice, critical care (including anaesthetics and orthopaedics), a student-choice subspecialty, and an elective, with the last four weeks used to prepare for internship. Students also complete a research or professional project, or a capstone. The 2026 guide describes MD placements as seven weeks long, and says a semester can run long when a placement needs it. Source: Bond University — Medical Program and Bond University — 2026 Medical Program Guide .

Students who pass the bachelor are eligible to continue into the MD. Bond also allows an exit after the bachelor. That exit is not a medical qualification: both degrees are required to qualify. Bond states that MD graduates can seek provisional registration, then an accredited internship, before general registration in Australia or New Zealand. The pathway from medical school through internship and specialty training is the wider timeline around this degree.

Bond University medicine fees

Bond University medicine fees are full fees. Bond is a private, not-for-profit university, and it states that these places are not subsidised by government. On the Medical Program fees page, the published averages are $33,610 per semester for 2026 and $35,130 per semester for 2027, each spread over 14 semesters. Bond calls those figures indicative averages. Tuition is charged by subject, it can change every year, and you pay the rate for the year you are enrolled. Read the fees page again before you accept an offer. Source: Bond University — Medical Program fees and Bond University — 2026 Medical Program Guide .

The first semester's fee is paid when you accept the offer. Later semesters are due at the start of each semester. Eligible students can use FEE-HELP until they reach the HELP limit that applies to medicine. Bond's FAQ states that the limit does not cover the full tuition, and that you then pay the university upfront. The cap changes by year and with any HELP debt you already hold, so read Bond's FAQ with Study Assist . SA-HELP can cover the amenities fee for eligible students. Bond's fees page also suggests about $300 a semester for books, plus accommodation and living costs. Source: Bond University — Medical Program FAQ , Bond University — Medical Program fees , and Bond University — 2026 Medical Program Guide .

Bond's fees page states that the university does not offer scholarships for either medical degree, and that bachelor students can apply for external scholarships in first year. It also describes family loyalty discounts of up to 10 per cent where eligible previous study at Bond exists. The program page separately says that in 2027, 2028, and 2029 Bond is offering two First Nations Medical Partial Scholarships, and the FAQ gives a First Nations pathway contact. Read both pages before you rely on a scholarship. How this full fee sits next to Commonwealth supported places is the Australian medical school fees comparison. Bond University medicine entry requirements

Bond University medicine entry requirements are a staged filter. QTAC assesses your academic record, Bond invites some applicants to a paid online psychometric test, and the test result decides who is interviewed. There is an English prerequisite. Work experience and a personal statement are not part of the criteria. Adjustment factors and bonus points cannot be used on an ATAR for this program. Source: Bond University — Medical Program entry requirements and Bond University — Medical Program FAQ .

Bond's FAQ states that the university does not use UCAT ® ANZ or UMAT for the Bachelor of Medical Studies. Which medical schools use the UCAT ® and how UCAT ® scores are interpreted are the pages for applications that include that test. Graduate applicants to Bond are ranked on GPA through QTAC, then the psychometric test and the interview. GEMSAS matches a different set of graduate-entry schools, listed on the GEMSAS medical schools page . How those schools weight graduate-entry applications sets out that process.

Undergraduate and graduate academic ranks

An undergraduate applicant has finished Year 12, or an equivalent senior certificate, and has not completed a bachelor degree. A graduate applicant has completed a bachelor degree. Bond says it offers 80 per cent of places to undergraduate applicants and 20 per cent to graduate applicants. From 2025 it aims to give 40 per cent of interview invitations to applicants from Queensland and the Tweed community. The FAQ publishes the suburbs and postcodes it uses for that aim. Applicants from outside that area are still ranked for interview on the psychometric test. Source: Bond University — Medical Program entry requirements and Bond University — Medical Program FAQ .

The entry requirements page says up to 180 domestic places a year, across May and September. The FAQ says up to 200. Both keep the 80/20 split. Confirm the cap on Bond's pages for your intake, because those two figures disagree.

For psychometric selection, Bond's entry table gives a competitive guide from the intake it describes: OP 1–3, an ATAR of 96 or above, or an IB Diploma of 38 or above for undergraduates, and a cumulative GPA above 6 on a 7-point scale for graduates. The same page says a stronger pool pushes that score up. The FAQ sets the floor at a GPA of at least 6.0 over one full-time-equivalent year, and says applicants on that minimum are unlikely to progress. It also publishes the cut-off from the intake it last reported, and says the next cut-off depends on that year's pool. Use the FAQ for that latest figure. QTAC calculates the GPA rank. Source: Bond University — Medical Program entry requirements and Bond University — Medical Program FAQ .

Qualifications normally have to fall within the nine years before applications close. Someone who has started a bachelor degree and not finished it still applies as an undergraduate. Under one year full-time equivalent, Bond uses Year 12. From one year up to 1.5 years, it uses a 50/50 mix of Year 12 and the incomplete GPA. At 1.5 years or more, it uses the incomplete GPA only. Honours, postgraduate coursework, and research-heavy awards have their own rows on the entry table. A degree that is too old has to be replaced by further recognised study. Graduates from non-science backgrounds are welcome if these rules and the English prerequisite are met. English, direct entry, and the lateral pathway

The subject prerequisite for direct entry is English: English, English as an Additional Language, Literature, or English and Literature Extension, as a QCAA General subject, Units 3 and 4, at a grade C or better. Interstate, IB, and other equivalents sit in the table on the entry page. Bond says that table is updated between 15 May and 15 December for the following intake. You have to get documentary evidence to QTAC by the application close. An approved bridging course is the route if the English prerequisite is not already met. Source: Bond University — Medical Program entry requirements .

Direct entry is currently open to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, holders of an Australian humanitarian visa, and New Zealand citizens. New Zealand permanent residents are outside that list. The program page and the fees page both say the program is not available to international students who need a student visa to study it. Bond also warns that someone who is an international or overseas student at enrolment may not automatically have registration, an internship, or a provider number in Australia. Source: Bond University — Medical Program and Bond University — Medical Program fees .

For international students, lateral entry is currently the only way in. Domestic students can use it too. Graduates of named Bond awards can be considered for Year 2 of the Bachelor of Medical Studies with a GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 on Bond's scale. The FAQ names the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Pre-Health Professional major), the Master of Occupational Therapy, the Doctor of Physiotherapy, the Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice, and, where a prior biomedical science degree also meets the GPA, the Master of Healthcare Innovations. In 2025 about 25 students entered this way. Places sit outside the 20 per cent graduate quota, they are not guaranteed, and the final offer on this route is decided on the interview alone. The window is usually June to late September. Australian First Nations applicants have a separate pathway and scholarship contact on the same FAQ. Source: Bond University — Medical Program FAQ .

Applying, and where Bond medicine dates sit

Direct entry is lodged with QTAC . Domestic applicants use QTAC wherever they live, including from overseas. The undergraduate code is 020712 and the graduate code is 020741. Bond has to be your first preference by the close. Nominate May, September, or both, in the order you would actually start. Bond does not move offer-holders between intakes, and it does not allow deferral. If you cannot start, you apply again later. Source: Bond University — Medical Program entry requirements and Bond University — Medical Program FAQ .

The entry page says about half of applicants are invited to psychometric testing on academic rank. The 2026 program guide describes about 900 psychometric invitations and about 400 interviews. Those are Bond's published descriptions of the funnel. Outcomes are posted on the QTAC application. Bond medicine dates

Bond medicine dates follow one pattern, and the days change. QTAC applications open and close in January. Psychometric testing sits in February. Interviews and round-one offers sit in March. Compulsory orientation, then classes, follow in May or September. Inside January, QTAC also locks preference changes for a short stretch. The day, the time, and the intake year are on Bond's dates page .

You accept both the QTAC offer and Bond's offer. The lapse time is on the dates page. Further offers are not promised. The Faculty does not discuss individual results. Document and preference questions go to QTAC. Source: Bond University — Medical Program important dates and Bond University — Medical Program FAQ .

Psychometric testing

Invited applicants sit an emotional intelligence test and a personality test in one proctored online session. The pair takes about 90 minutes, inside a two-hour limit, on a laptop or desktop with a webcam and audio. A phone is not accepted. The applicant pays the test provider. Bond does not publish a standard price, and it does not endorse commercial preparation. Current results last 24 months, and you cannot choose to resit while one is valid. Results from before October 2025 expired when Bond changed the test. A carried result is ranked against the new pool. Only selected applicants are emailed, so check the QTAC status. Source: Bond University — Medical Program FAQ and Bond University — Medical Program entry requirements .

The online interview

Interviews are online only, and you attend alone. Bond's FAQ puts the session at about 90 minutes, including registration and debriefing. The dates page asks you to keep about two hours. Interviewers do not see your ATAR, GPA, or psychometric results. Bond sends the format only after you are invited, and it does not endorse preparation services. Many other Australian medical schools use a multiple mini interview. How multiple mini interviews work explains that format. Bond's session is its own. The rule that the interview alone decides the offer is published for lateral entry, and Bond does not publish that weighting for the main QTAC offer. Fit to practise at Bond

Fit to practise at Bond is the compliance system for students in the Bachelor of Medical Studies (CC-60026) and the Doctor of Medicine (CC-63048). It is separate from the psychometric test in the application. After you enrol, you upload evidence during Orientation Week and you are expected to be fully compliant by census date, unless a vaccination course is still underway and you have told the fit-to-practise team. Evidence is checked in Osler. If a check lapses, Bond can keep you out of placement, and missed placement can mean a failed subject and a hold on progress. Source: Bond University — Medicine compliance hub .

The hub groups the work as security checks, health-protection evidence, Queensland and New South Wales health forms, and training. That includes an Australian Federal Police national police check (code 37), a Queensland Blue Card and NDIS clearance, and immunisation evidence. Some checks can be completed only after you arrive in Queensland, and some hospitals add their own modules. The live checklist is the hub. Bond's FAQ welcomes applicants with medical, mental health, or learning conditions, and keeps the same academic bar. Adjustments are considered after selection. If pregnancy, a vaccination objection, a criminal conviction, or a health condition may affect placement or later registration, contact the Faculty before you start. These placements are the step that leads into internship and training after the medical degree . Source: Bond University — Medicine compliance hub and Bond University — Medical Program FAQ .

Is Bond University medicine a good fit?

Is Bond University medicine good? Judge it on accreditation, the full fee, the accelerated calendar, and a selection process built on academic rank, a psychometric test, and an online interview. The Australian Medical Council lists the BMedSt/MD as accredited until 31 March 2032. In February 2026 its accreditation committee found that the program substantially meets the standards, and granted six years subject to the conditions in the report and to later monitoring. Read the report for those conditions. Accreditation supports a graduate's path to registration. It is a standards decision, and the next applicant pool still sets its own academic line. Source: Australian Medical Council — accredited medical schools and Australian Medical Council — 2026 Bond accreditation report .

A league table is a different question from whether this program fits the way you can study and pay. That comparison sits on the MD ranking page.

Internship in Queensland

Queensland Health allocates internships. Graduates of Queensland universities who are Australian or New Zealand citizens, or Australian permanent residents, and who start internship in the year they graduate or the year after (or who hold an approved deferral from an earlier campaign) are Group A. Group A is a guaranteed offer of an intern position in Queensland. The hospital comes from your preference list, by direct allocation or by ballot. Graduates who need a visa to work, or who miss the Group A timing or citizenship rules, are outside that guarantee. Source: Queensland Health — intern applicant groups .

When the pace and the bill match you

The program suits a domestic applicant who can pay a full fee across 14 semesters, with FEE-HELP covering only part of it, and who wants three semesters a year on the Gold Coast. It also suits someone who can start in the offered May or September intake. Bond limits enrolments so that class sizes stay small and clinical placements are available, and it says the academic score needed for an interview rises when the pool is stronger. A Commonwealth supported place, direct entry on a student visa, or a GAMSAT ® application through GEMSAS is a different route. Place types and the national fee picture are on the Australian medical schools directory .

Bond University medicine questions

Does Bond University medicine require the UCAT?

No. Bond's medical FAQ states that the university does not use UCAT ® ANZ or UMAT for the Bachelor of Medical Studies. Direct entry is academic rank through QTAC, then a psychometric test, then an online interview. Graduate applicants use that same QTAC path. Bond is not a GEMSAS medical school.

What ATAR or GPA is competitive for Bond medicine?

Bond's entry page gives a competitive guide of an ATAR of 96 or above, an IB Diploma of 38 or above, or OP 1–3 for undergraduates, and a GPA above 6 on a 7-point scale for graduates. The FAQ says a GPA of at least 6.0 is the minimum to be considered, and that applicants on that minimum are unlikely to progress. Adjustment factors cannot be added to the ATAR. The FAQ publishes the cut-off from the intake it last reported. Use that page for the figure, because the next pool can sit higher.

How much are Bond University medicine fees?

Bond's fees page lists indicative averages of $33,610 per semester for 2026 and $35,130 per semester for 2027, across 14 semesters. Fees are full fee, charged by subject, and they change by year. FEE-HELP is available to eligible students and, on Bond's FAQ, does not cover the whole program. Confirm the figure on Bond's fees page before you accept an offer.

When do Bond medicine applications open?

Direct-entry applications open and close in January through QTAC, using code 020712 for undergraduate entry and 020741 for graduate entry. Psychometric testing is in February, interviews and round-one offers are in March, and classes start in May or September. Bond's dates page lists the days and times for the intake that is open. Bond has to be your first preference by the close.

What is fit to practise at Bond?

It is the placement-compliance system for enrolled medical students, not the admissions psychometric test. You upload police checks, immunisation evidence, Blue Card and NDIS clearance, and required training to Osler, with the file expected during Orientation Week and compliance expected by census date. A lapsed check can block placement and hold up the degree. The task list is on Bond's medicine compliance hub.

Can international students apply for Bond medicine?

Direct entry is not open to applicants who need a student visa. It is currently limited to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, Australian humanitarian visa holders, and New Zealand citizens. International students are considered only through lateral entry into Year 2 after a named Bond health degree, with a Bond GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00. Those places are limited and are not guaranteed.

Can I defer a Bond medicine offer?

Bond's FAQ says deferrals are not permitted, and a request to change from the May intake to the September intake, or the reverse, cannot be accommodated. If you cannot start, you can apply again later. List both intakes on the QTAC application, in the order you would actually start, if you are willing to take either.
